Every Friday since the beginning of the school year this friend group has eaten lunch together.

They always used to talk about how they couldn’t wait for open lunch when they were in 9th- 10th grade, and now being in 11th grade they can’t imagine not having open lunch.

Every Friday they go over to Jocelyn Petterson’s grandma’s house, and she cooks lunch for them. She prepares a ton of food and everyone always enjoys it.

“It’s nice being able to see my friends and talk together because most of us don’t have classes with each other,” Jocelyn said. They used to have lunch together every day during 10th grade year, but now that they have open lunch they don’t eat at school as a group anymore. That’s what makes these Fridays special, they get to see each other and catch up.

“It’s nice being able to talk to my friends because most of us are so busy with our lives, whether it is sports, jobs, or school,” Leticia Adame said. This is the one time of the week when they can all put down their problems and have a genuine conversation with each other without having to worry.

“It’s also nice not having to eat at school anymore because we can eat wherever we want to and have an hour to eat,” Jaxon Salonek said.
