Starting at the beginning of August many New Ulm Hockey boys have been traveling up to the cities a couple of times a week to play in the Red and Black league.  They do this to get more ice time in before the upcoming 2023-2024 hockey season.

Goalie Graham Glaser gets player of the game after his shutout performance on Saturday, Oct 28.

Red and Black League is an off-season development league for Minnesota High School Boys and Girls, Bantam, and Peewee. They have over 1500 players sign up and play each year from 125 different high school programs.

“I really enjoyed this league. I think it has helped and improved my game on the ice,” said junior hockey player Maddox Larson.

The New Ulm players played on team Firejackets where they posted a record of 11-2-5 in the regular season, with the last 10 games being wins.

In the playoffs, the Firejackets went 1-1 with the loss being on Sunday, Oct. 29 where they lost 4-1 to team Rugby to end their Red and Black season.

“Overall Red and Black League has been very beneficial for the New Ulm Hockey players who signed up for it, and I feel like we are going to have a successful upcoming hockey season,” said junior goaltender Graham Glaser.
