National Honor Society Ceremony Preparation

In Ms. Schneider’s seventh-hour class, you might see an unusual amount of commotion. This is not typical for the everyday class. This is because Ms. Schneider’s pastry and design class has been given the task of preparing numerous treats for the upcoming NHS induction ceremony.

Many cupcakes have been baked. Two flavors are offered including chocolate and vanilla, both topped with a color-appropriate frosting. This includes colors of blue, gold, and white. Students are working to frost the cupcakes in a neat manner using a variety of colors and different designs they’ve thought of.

The ceremony takes place on Monday, December 4. This is Ms. Schneider’s first year teaching this class at NUHS and therefore is “the first time she has been put on with the task.” Schneider said that she is allowing students to “be creative with the designs” to show what they have learned and are “able to create as a class.”

Students are excited to be able to bake for such a good cause and event. One of the class’s favorite units this year has been cake baking and decorating, with all frosting made from scratch.
