Many students say, “When am I going to use this in the real world” about their classes, but in fashion and design, learning how to sew can be used life-long.

Whether you’re sewing for fun, like teacher Ms Schneider and her cute keychains, or fixing a hole in a shirt in the future, it’s a useful skill.

Senior Elyse Dreckman said, “I had no idea how to sew, and now I know like 4 different stitches and we just started.” Learning to stitch is just the beginning of the class’s sewing unit because it’s like the base of sewing.

The class also just got multiple new sewing machines that they will be able to practice with. “I’m very excited about the new machines,” said Ms Schneider. “Before this, the school had a few older machines but nothing nearly this nice!”
