An ACL tear at Mankato West sidelines the lone senior Eagle hoopster
Starting power forward Daviney Dreckman injured

On January 27 Daviney Dreckman led her team to Mankato West for a section game, with the potential to secure a 1st round home playoff game, a rare site for New Ulm HS in recent years. The game started at 6:00 pm, with anticipation running high.

During the first half, around 15 minutes into the game, Daviney experienced her leg give out and a pop in her knee while executing a euro step after grabbing a rebound. Despite the pain, she managed to score two free throws before exiting the game for assessment in the athletic trainer’s room. Following examination, medical staff at the game deemed her fit to return, and she played briefly in the second half. However, during this time, she felt her knee give way again, resulting in her having to request a sub.

Evaluation at Twin Cities Orthopedics confirmed a re-torn ACL and additional cartilage damage. Despite the setback, Dreckman approached the road to recovery with determination.
