On Friday, January 26, the New Ulm Eagles boys basketball team faced off against the Marshall Tigers in a conference battle at home. The first half was very close between the two teams trading multiple three-pointers. However, the Eagles were able to pull away for a 10-point lead by the end of the first half. “Once we were able to lock down on defense, it seemed like everything clicked for us in the first [half],” said senior forward Nate Firle.

To begin the second half, the Eagles were hot. They quickly expanded that lead to 16 within the first few minutes, but some lazy defense got Marshall back in the game. New Ulm held a 10-point lead for most of the second half before the Tigers could close the game to 5 points within the last minute. With some clutch free throws to finish the game, the Eagles improve to a 4-1 in the conference with an 88-78 win.
