Fall is here!

Once September hits every year, it is hard to find someone who doesn’t welcome the beautiful autumn with open hands. No matter how much you love the warmer months, the temperature allowing you to wrap up in a cozy sweater and swap out your sandals for loafers and Uggs is a welcome change. And that change is officially here. Fall 2023 trends have arrived in New Ulm High School.

Ugg boots have been around for a long time and used to be very popular. Now, the brand is the new obsession at New Ulm High School. Uggs have become one of the latest trends because they embrace comfort and they have many different styles and colors to wear.  “I have two pears of Uggs, and I love them. They keep my feet warm and cozy, and they also match almost every outfit,” junior Ambriel Roberts said.

The Ugg brand was created in 1978 when Brian Smith moved to California with a dream, of designing a product with his favorite material, sheepskin. After that, Ugg became a symbol of California beach culture, and then the brand expanded after that. Now there are 20 different kinds of styles and many different colors of Uggs.

It’s hard not to notice all around New Ulm High School is increasingly dotted with another one of the latest fashion trends- the puffer vest. But this isn’t the bulky, big garment of old years. The 2023 repetition has evolved into a symbol of fashion and style with a function a few could have predicted.

The most popular kind are the North Face puffer vest and any type of cropped puffer vest. Many people in New Ulm High School pair vests with everything from sleek leggings and a sweatshirt underneath to jeans and a dressy shirt underneath. Paisley Kamrath said, “It is a good statement piece to wear with outfits, it can embrace style while being comfortable.”

Many new design houses have embraced the puffer vest, releasing versions that feature bold patterns, and many different colors. Other advancements have been made like in fabric technology, which have made them lighter than ever before. Many students in New Ulm High School like to enjoy the warmth and the coziness while feeling put together with a great outfit.
