No parking spots in the parking lot

In the Second Semester at New Ulm High School, the number of parking spots decreased as Sophomores began getting their licenses and driving to school. It makes it harder to park close to the school when it is very cold and windy outside.

It’s best to get to school early to find a closer parking spot, but if you get there right at 7:55, you might have trouble finding one and end up parking all the way in the back.

Sophomore Karly Meier said, ¨I usually get here early enough so I can find a parking spot and not have to circle it a few times.”

For upperclass students, fewer parking spots are available when Seniors and Juniors return from open lunch because sophomores are using them, making it harder to park closer to the school.

Some students have the advantage of taking an Earlybird class, like journalism, or something offered in the morning, so that students who come to school at 7:00 am get a really close parking spot because there is no one here at that time, because actual school doesn’t start until 8:00 am when all the other students arrive for school to start.

“It is easier to leave the parking lot for open lunch and getting here early, not trying to find a place to park,” Senior journalism student Megan Brudelie said.

During the day at the High School, many students have open hours, so they leave school. When they come back, it’s really hard to park because all the sophomores can’t leave the school during the school day. So the sophomores are parked there all day and don´t move, making it hard for the upperclassmen to park closer to the school.
