For Natalia and Elizabeth, figure skating has been their favorite thing to do since they were young. From attending practices to competitions, from struggling to winning, from starting young to becoming teenagers, they have accomplished many new things on the ice.

Natalia started skating when she was about one and a half years old. She started skating because she wanted to follow her sisters’ steps in figure skating.

Natalia had trouble learning different jumps and had to keep pushing herself to get them down. Her biggest accomplishment was passing the freestyle five. She practices once a week, but when it comes closer to competitions and ice shows, they practice three times a week. Her favorite part is getting to know new people and making connections at competitions.

Natalia, outside of figure skating, is very involved in 4-H and FFA. She enjoys showing dairy cows and dairy goats along with heifers and steers. Natalia is the treasurer of the 4H Club Milford, she is the vice president for the Bows and Triggers Club in 4H, and the treasurer for the Brown County Federation. She also enjoys competing in Milk Quality in FFA and is always helpful to others when they need it.

Elizabeth started skating when she was six years old. She became interested in skating because she went out on a pond behind her house and loved skating for fun. Her coach helped her decide to finally start figure skating. The hardest thing she needed to accomplish was her sit spin, which she accomplished with help from her coaches and by practicing a lot. Elizabeth is most proud of her world competition, where she placed first, second, and third in her events.

Elizabeth practices two times a week and on the weekend. During the summer, she goes to private ice and competes in competitions. She always has to make sure her blades are sharpened and that she has a dress that fits the theme of the competition. The judges judge a character piece on your makeup, your costume, and your looks. For a regular performance you’re judged on what goes with the music, including your dress, especially the color, and you need to skate the best of your ability.

Outside of figure skating, Elizabeth enjoys being in FFA and cheerleading. She likes to go camping up north, where she finds fun in fishing. She likes to go to camps that involve being outside, like kayaking and hiking.
