On Wednesday, May 27, the Albert Lea Tigers headed to Johnson Park in New Ulm to face the Eagles in the first round of sections.
Mitchell Hopp, Owen Castleman, and Collin Forstner combined for a four-hit shutout, and the Eagles won 4-0 thanks to Hopp’s remarkable pitching within 5 innings, only two hits while striking out six batters. Senior Zach Hubbard also had two hits for the Eagles. 
Junior Mitchell Hopp said, “I was surprised that they were all swinging at everything, that’s what really helped us pull through and take advantage of them not scoring. I’m glad that the boys were batting well and finished the game strong.”
The Eagles now look forward to their semi-final game against Marshall on Saturday, May 30, also at Johnson Park again. The Eagles look to take advantage of playing on their home field throughout the sectional tournament.
