The New Ulm Eagles flew into their first meet of the season, while looking stylish with their new polos. It was a warm but windy Thursday to start the season at the New Ulm Country Club. Although the golf team didn’t play well, they’re still looking good for the rest of the season in their new

polos.
With support from the New Ulm Eagles Booster Club, the golf team was able to afford new training equipment and new polos. The Eagles still placed 2nd in the New Ulm Invitational Tournament, just beaten by the Saint Peter Saints. When the Eagles play well, they’ll definitely be a team to watch out for.
The Eagles were led by the “youngsters” last Thursday, with 7th grader Ethan Schmidt carving out a 78 and 8th grader Asher Wendinger shooting a 77. With a promising young group, the Eagles will seem to be looking good for the next few years.
Although the team didn’t start the season playing to the best of their ability, they are still looking forward to a promising season with a strong core of golfers. “We all could have played better that day, but we’ll come back swinging during the rest of the season,” said New Ulm golfer Brandt Munson.
