The music department held a concert in the auditorium March 26 to showcase what they have been working on over the months.
“We have been working hard since the beginning of the semester,” senior Sophie Berger said.
The concert showed both the talent and dedication of the music department.
During the concert, they played a song in remembrance of Claire Jeske, a sophomore who passed away a few weeks earlier. It was a beautiful and sweet way to show her family and friends that we will never forget her.
Looking into the future, the music department seems promising with an uprise of students joining the band as freshmen or even in middle school. They are also trying to add an intro to band elective so that high schoolers with no experience can still join and not feel behind.
There is an upcoming pop concert in the spring which will act as the “final hurrah.” It will feature more fun and lively pieces with a familiar music selection for the enjoyment of the audience and players. The students have already started choosing pieces from musicals like “West Side Story” and “Les Misérables.”
So, despite the future budget cuts and issues the music department is facing, we have always had a passionate and devoted music department, and that is only improving.
“We’ve got four years in a row of superiors, which is the highest rating they can get,” said Mr. Claussen.
