On Friday, February 27, the New Ulm FFA chapter hosted its annual Teacher Appreciation event at New Ulm High School. As part of the celebration, FFA members served pie and root beer floats to teachers during lunch.

The event marked the conclusion of a busy week for the chapter as they celebrated National FFA Week with students and staff throughout the school. The week included several activities designed to engage the school community and promote agriculture and FFA.

Five New Ulm FFA officers helped run the event by serving pie from Hy-Vee, scooping ice cream, and pouring root beer for teachers. The officers wanted to show their gratitude to teachers for their support throughout the year.

“We wanted to thank the teachers for helping us during the school year, being patient when we have FFA events, and helping students stay caught up with schoolwork,” said one member.

In addition to the teacher appreciation event, the chapter hosted other activities during the week, including an emblem hunt around the school and a tractor competition where students voted for their favorite tractors. Voting also took place on Friday.

“I like to help wherever I am needed, especially where there is pie,” said Alex Schroder.

“It’s a fun tradition which the teachers appreciate,” Covington said.

The Teacher Appreciation event helped bring the busy week to an end.
