Track has a new head coach, Brian Lundgren, who is ready for the 2026 season at New Ulm High School, which starts on March 9.
Lundgren, who has a lot planned for the season, said, “One thing we are looking for as coaches is to have more structure in our practices.” This is good because with plenty of seniors and juniors, this track team could be really good if they work hard and put in the time and effort.
In this picture, Lundgren is helping Methodious Amoah with knowing when his event is going to be because New Ulm High School got to the meet a little bit late. Lundgren had a lot to do with many questions from his athletes, and he was doing what he could to help everyone out as a good coach would.
Some expectations for the year are that as a coach, he just “wants to push as many kids through to stages as we can… Hoping to continue that, hopefully adding more student athletes to the state meet this year.”
So, although as coaches they would like to help kids make it to state, the main priority is to just help kids get better and faster for themselves.
This year, New Ulm High School is hosting conference. This will be great for the athlete to race in a big meet against good competition and potentially win the meet in front of all their friends and family. Hopefully, the meet does not get cancelled because last year both home meets got cancelled due to weather conditions.
In this video, Jayden Broste is finishing first in his first-ever 400-meter run. Before the race, he was nervous because he had never done it before and didn’t know how he would do then. After the race, he was tired but then said, “It wasn’t even that bad.”
