NUHS offers 4 physical education classes, and many of the students who are enrolled in NUHS sports share the same locker room. This means the lowerclassmen and upperclassmen students are sandwiched together.
Students have heard stories of vandalism, theft, and smells that belong in a sewer. Quotes from Phy Ed teacher Mr. Rodriguez and Junior Riley Rose disprove these rumors.

During an interview with physical education teacher Mr.Rodriguez, he claimed that he hasn’t had any students break any major rules, such as vandalism, theft, or fights.
“The only thing I notice students doing is leaving their locks open so they can skip the process of putting in their combination,” Mr. Rodriguez said. “I know people do steal sometimes in the locker rooms, which isn’t good obviously, but students should lock their lockers to prevent it”.
Students claim they have a normal experience in the locker rooms.
“It does get a little loud since there’s another gym class, but no one’s actually breaking the rules, surprisingly,” Rose said.
While yelling isn’t against the rules, left-open lockers tend to be hanging fruit for sneaky students.
“I accidentally left my locker open, and someone stole my deodorant and even my lock,” Rose said. ” I didn’t report it because deodorant is cheap, and I found my lock a few days later, even if I did, I feel like it’s my fault for leaving my locker open”.
According to the parent and student NUHS handbook, under the Safe School Expectation policy, students can report incidents where they feel unsafe to administrators or the ‘safe school reporting system’. Students who plan to use the locker rooms can live fearlessly now, since the rumors of locker room chaos have been disproved.
