Recently, the trend of using cars as lockers at New Ulm High School has been growing among students.

“More convenient,” said NUHS student Rylee Rose, “because I go to my car multiple times a day.”

The convenience of using their cars has caused students to just abandon their school lockers.

But this newfound convenience can raise concerns with the treatment of Chromebooks and other school materials among the technical staff at NUHS.

“It could cause damage to that (Chromebooks),” said Mr. Neubarth when asked about leaving Chromebooks in cars in cold weather. In addition to this, Mr. Neubarth said these Chromebook damages cost the school and force the school to press charges on the students.

Despite these warnings from the school’s office, students still leave their stuff in their cars overnight.

“I leave my Chromebook, AirPods, notebooks and my phone sometimes,” Rose said.

This recklessness of students and their school materials can lead to a costly bill for them if they don’t fix this habit in the near future.
