The day before Thanksgiving break, students at NUHS get together to play turkey bingo during 7th hour.

Student council members gather to decorate the halls, call numbers, check Bingo cards, hand out prizes, and share jokes. The student council calls out numbers over the intercom, and students in the classrooms play a game of bingo. When a student gets a bingo, they have to walk down to the commons while gobbling. If the student council members see someone not gobbling, they will be sent back. Each winner gets to pick a prize.

One of the many students playing is Hunter Larson. Larson is hoping he can finally get lucky in his senior year and win a prize. After the bingo games, Larson said, “It’s always fun to get out of class and have some fun before the nice break we get. I’m mainly more excited to get some good Thanksgiving food this week. I’m hoping next year I can finally find a good card to get me a bingo. I’ve always been really close to winning, but never actually won.”

Another student who played bingo was Makenna Legare. Legare was able to win a bingo this year. “I was really happy to be able to win this year. I was able to get some cookies from the prizes, and I’m hoping to win again next year when I play for the last time. It’s always fun to get out of class and have some fun, playing games. It’s always funny hearing people gobble in the halls, and when they gobble over the speakers.”

Mrs. Fairbairn’s class was really excited to play this year. She even left her door open so that the students could hear everyone in the halls, gobbling on their way to pick up a prize. Mrs. Fairbairn played music between bingo games for the students. The class had a good time playing bingo with each other and getting ready for Thanksgiving break.
