Students in auto body are currently working on fixing and painting fenders.
In order to fix them, they have to cut out the bad metal, weld in a new piece, put body filler in the dents, and then paint the fender.
The first thing that the students had to do was cut out the metal with an angle grinder.
They had to make sure that the patch panel would fit in the spot that they cut out.
The last thing they have to do is put body filler on the dents and holes, and then sand down the excess and the old paint to prep for the new paint.

They have to mix the body filler with a hardener to make the Bondo stick and harden to the fender. After they have to sand down the Bondo for it to be level with the body panel lines. Lastly, they have to sand the whole body panel down to prep for painting the fender.
“It’s a really easy skill to learn, and it’s really useful,” Alex Schroeder said.
