Knowledge Bowl began on Monday, October 20, marking the start of a new season for both new and veteran players alike.
One veteran who is back again is Coach Matt Nelson, more known as Mr. Nelson from the science wing. He has been a coach for 11 years and has seen some big changes.
“I think one of the biggest things would be like the size of it,” Nelson said. “So we used to have, you know, something like 20 some students and now we’re up to like 60 plus, pushing 70 students.”
Chase Larson, however, has only completed one full year of Knowledge Bowl and is now entering his second.
Despite being a senior and entering his last year of Knowledge Bowl, he has high hopes with the incoming freshman class that will replace many players.
“The freshmen I’ve worked with so far have seemed like they’ll do pretty good,” Chase said.
Charles Gag, a junior at the high school, is optimistic about the upcoming season.
Despite his high hopes, he does have concerns over the Eagles’ weakest link in Knowledge Bowl, literature.
“A lot of people don’t read books, so that’s a big problem when, like, books pop up during questions,” Gag said. “That never ends well.”
