The New Ulm Club  began in 1955 and on Saturday, April 9 at the Martin Luther College it will be holding its 63rd annual awards banquet for senior athletes from New Ulm High School, Minnesota Valley Lutheran and New Ulm Cathedral. Former University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi will be the guest speaker at the 63rd annual New Ulm Club Senior Award. New Ulm Club, which is limited to 30 sports-minded New Ulm citizens, originally began as an exchange club here in New Ulm but was dropped and then reformed. Outstanding male and female athletes from each high school are announced at the banquet. This was the only high school banquet that honored athletes from all three high schools. This year’s banquet is at the usual venue (Martin Luther College) and is scheduled to be on April 8th at 6:30 pm. Tickets are available for $15 at Nicklasson Athletic, or from each of the three high schools in New Ulm.
