New Ulm FCCLA  is sending 10 students to the state competition, which will be held in Minneapolis from April 7-9.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life and has been helping students with problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

Mr. Janssen has been the adviser for 5 years.”This is the biggest group of kids I have had be offered a chance to go to state,” he said. This is also the best turnout for the FCCLA organizaion in years.

Each member has an opportunity to participate in different categories such as teach-to-train, ethical essays, professional presentations, focus on children, everyday equations, chapter serves projects, and repurpose and redesign. The participants go to the mid-winter FCCLA association to present and participate in the events in front of judges and see if they qualify for state.

The students who qualified are Leanna Brown, Kaitlin Donnay, Megan Hames, Isabelle Fuhr, Hailey Abraham, Bridget Bushard, Ryan Johnson, Mallory Larson and Calleigh Frederickson.
