Brody Nordby (Chapter 1)
Brody Nordby, a junior at New Ulm Public High School, works at Rooms and Rest to make a little extra cash. He builds furniture, helps with customer loadouts, and moves heavy things around the showroom floor. “I’ve been there a little over a year, like a year and a month, maybe,” he says.
He works about four hours most school days, but come summer, that stretches to about 6 hours. Still, he doesn’t mind it. His favorite part of the job is "building stuff,” Brody says. “And it’s pretty chill. I get some downtime too.”
As with almost every job, not everything is fun, though. Brody says his least favorite part is “This one TV stand with, like, 50 parts, it’s just the worst,” he laughs. “Gets pretty stupid.”
But even with the tricky furniture and after-school hours, Brody’s learning to balance work with school.
