The 2025 school year comes to an end. Seniors are ready to leave and move away.
The class of 2025 has 155 students, but today we focus on one student, Kaelyn Eikanger, who participates in soccer and track & field for the school. She also competed in summer ball throughout her years.
Kaelyn Eikanger is not the only child; she has two older siblings who both competed in soccer. With the influence of them both, Eikanger joined soccer when she was six years old.
One season during fall soccer, she strained her quad, setting her back. The next year, she did the same thing. Getting over the challenge of repeating the same injury three seasons in a row, Eikanger learned to push through the pain. During the spring, Eikanger participated in summer soccer while she did school track & field, and continued into summer.
I asked Eikanger what influenced her to join track & field. She responded by staying in shape for fall soccer. She started when she was in the 7th grade. Her main events are the 200M and 400M sprints. Her favorite memory is running in sections each year.
When asked what Eikanger does after school, she said that after long days of school and practice, she just wants to relax. She often stays up late studying and doing homework.
When things get too stressful, Eikanger talks to friends and family. “They help bring perspective into my life,” she said.
Eikanger plans on joining sports clubs and intramurals in college.
