The Eagles took care of business Tuesday in Mound Westonka winning on all three levels. Junior Starting pitcher Dirk Haynes said, “It was a nice way to start the season,” referring to their 6-3 win.
On the Varsity level, the Eagles were firing on all cylinders, with Dirk Haynes and Sophomore Tanner Backer leading the way on the mound, allowing only 1 earned run. The Eagles were also getting it done on offense, led by center fielder Junior Zach Hubbard, who collected 3 hits, followed by Junior catcher Kyle Albrecht with 2 hits.
This was a game of many firsts with Junior 3rd baseman Candon Briggs getting his first Varsity start and collecting hisĀ 1st varsity hit along with Senior 1st baseman Ben Alfred. Dirk Haynes also got his first start and win on the bump for the Eagles.
JV and C squad also came through with big wins to complete the sweep. JV completed the 10-run mercy rule 13-3 after 5 innings led by Collin Forstner on the mound. C squad also took care of business with a hearty 14-4 win.
