New Ulm High School eagles are soaring high with the start of a new season. Athletes start planning their goals and achievements.

Spring Sports

Junior Lauren Schmiesing kicks off the 2025 softball season.

What positions do you play?"Shortstop and sometimes third."
What is your pre-game ritual or song? "Jamming out to music with friends."
What is one piece of advice for a younger softball player? "Keep working hard and giving 100% effort. Also, don’t take things for granted."
What made you want to play softball? "Started playing at a young age and loved it ever since."
What is one goal you have as an individual? "Keep playing hard and be a consistent fielder and hitter."

The Eagle's first game is on April 7 at Mankato West at 5 p.m.

What events do you do? "Open 100, 4x100, and 4x200."
What is your pre-meet ritual or song? "Breaking Dishes" by Rhianna"
What is one piece of advice for a younger trackster? "Always warm up and stretch properly."
What made you join the track? "To stay fit for basketball, increase my speed."
What is one goal you have for this track season as an individual? "Make it to state in the open 100."

The Eagles' next track meet is April 7 at Fairmont at 4:30 p.m.

What do you most enjoy about tennis?

The competition and being able to win for my team.

Do you play singles or doubles? What is your favorite?

Singles, I can play both but I prefer singles.

What is your pre-match routine?

Listen to music, eat fruit.

What are some tips you would give to a new tennis player?

Focus on just getting the ball in play, and do not get frustrated so quickly.

What is your biggest tennis memory?

Winning against Prior Lake last year, being the deciding match to send us to round 2 of sections.

Why did you choose to do golf?

I wanted to try something new with friends.

What types of shots are your favorite?

Driving

What is your goal for your first year in golf?

I hope to see progress

What's the most frustrating thing about golf so far?

I swing like a softball player

What are you most looking forward to learning more about?

Perfecting my swing and developing a better mentality.
