Just For Kix teams from New Ulm competed at a competition held in Bloomington. The Kix team took first place out of five teams, and the Hip Hop team took second out of five teams.
Just For Kix dance teams are from all around the world so you see amazing competition from so many teams. New Ulm had 23 teams compete, ranging from mini to senior classes, securing around 11 first places, seven-second places, and three third places.
“Competiton is where all your hard work pays off,” said Halle Hinderman, a the senior on the hip hop and kix team. “You go to practice every week and push through all the challenges of learning a new dance, and sometimes it’s tough but the excitement at competitions is amazing.”

The senior hip-hop team is performing a Barbie hip-hop dance, and the Kix team is performing Cinco De Mayo. Both dances bring lots of energy and sass. “When we found out we were going to be dancing to Cinco De Mayo, I think the whole team was really excited because we have seen teams perform this before, and it is always a high-energy and sharp dance,” said Noelle Hauge.
Ashley Meier said, “Competitions are my favorite. It’s fun to watch many teams compete but it’s amazing seeing New Ulm out there placing first over bigger towns.”
New Ulm Just For Kix dance team will next compete at Nationals starting May 1 in Rochester. Freshman Karly Meier said, “Nationals is the best part about dance, where over 1000 dances get performed and 100s of memories are made”
