As the year slowly starts to come to a close with March right around the corner, many seniors are deciding and finalizing their plans after high school. There are various career paths that the class of 2025 will opt for: two-year colleges, four-year colleges, taking time off, or enlisting to serve the country. After sharing many memories and laughs throughout their time at New Ulm High School, seniors are ready to start the next chapter in their lives.

One of these seniors is Benton Groebner. Benton said that he has enjoyed his time here at New Ulm High School. “New Ulm High School has given me a lot of opportunities to take college classes to prepare for the future,” he said.

He is planning on attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities this upcoming fall through the Liberal Arts College. Benton said that he is looking forward to living in the Twin Cities with a big, diverse community, ready to meet new people and seek new opportunities after living most of his life in New Ulm. Although he is ready to move out for college to begin his college life, Benton said he is “not looking forward to reading for my classes.”

Another senior with aspiring plans after high school is Samuel Ibberson. Samuel has also appreciated his time at New Ulm High School. Samuel said that New Ulm High School has “provided me with a lot of friends and a good education.”

He also said that he has enjoyed his time playing for New Ulm High School’s football team, building strong connections and bonds with the teammates he has met throughout his four years.

He has committed to playing football at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa. He looks forward to playing football with a new team at a new level, ready to learn new things that can further improve his gameplay on the field, even though he is dreading “lifting at 5 a.m.” throughout the week.
