On Feb. 25, New Ulm High School Opened Registration for next year’s courses, encouraging students to register early to ensure they get the classes they need or want. New Ulm has an online registration system that students can use to find out what materials are used in that class and what the class is about. This helps students understand the differences between elective courses and required classes. Registration is open till March 28, but students are urged to complete it earlier so people don’t worry about last-minute selections.
Mr. Ziemer and Mrs. Gloege held a meeting in the Auditorium at New Ulm High School on Feb. 25 to help explain the process of registering for next year’s classes. First-year, second-year students, and third-year students all had separate meetings with the Counselors for everything, so it’s not confusing with every grade in there at once. Having each grade separated helps the Counselors and Students focus, with the Counselors helping and the students being able to ask questions.

“The exciting part about registration is the variety that the school is offering the kids to take and being able to help these kids develop and become more educated and learn better what classes should be taken,” said Mr. Ziemer. “Elective classes and required classes are very different. You can’t compare an English 10 class to an art foundations class.”
On Feb. 27, Mr. Vettter’s 5th-period class learned about what classes they need to start registering for next year. Many of the students Mr.Vetter has are kids who have Individual Education Plans. This confuses many of the kids. Mr.Vetter helps with registration because they are confused about what they need to sign up for to get the credits they need to graduate in the upcoming years.
“Registration is an exciting and overwhelming time because students are excited about the electives they get to choose,” Mr.Vetter said.
