On February 26, the 2-seeded New Ulm Eagles girls’ basketball won 87-42 against the 7-seed Worthington Trojans at New Ulm High School.
The Game started off with an exchange of one made free throw from each team. Soon after the Eagles went on a 12-0 run to lead 13-1.
During the first half, the Eagles controlled the game, leading 49-24 at the half. Coming into the second half the Eagles continued their dominance. The Eagles scored 38 more points in the second half including a 15-0 run late in the second half. The Trojans ended up scoring 18 more points during the second half, bringing their total score to 49, but it was not enough. Final score 87-42 New Ulm.

The Eagles were led by Senior Maddie backer who scored 22 points on the night. New Ulm Junior Betsy Joyce said a “solid defense, strong mindset, one game at a time” is what led New Ulm to the win.
New Ulm’s win puts them into the Section semi-finals against the 3-seed St. Peter, which will take place on Saturday, March.
