On Sunday, February 2, 2025, after the groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter seeing his shadow, frigid temperatures, and snowy forecasts made that prediction feel very real, with students rushing into school to avoid the freezing cold—a rare sight on such cold mornings. “It makes it really hard to get up in the morning, especially for Early Bird Journalism when it’s this cold,” said Makena Meier, who is counting down the days until summer when she can finally walk into school without freezing. Layer on layers, and it’s still not enough to keep us warm.
