From waking up at six a.m. for practice to filling up water bottles, there is more to managing basketball than keeping the score of the game.

The managers are not only there on game day. There are many responsibilities throughout the season, such as setting up equipment for the team, helping out at practices, and keeping track of the book at the games.”When you are a team manager, you are a part of the team, and it’s important that you are dedicated to being there,” manager Grace Henn said. “Just like the players and coaches.”

During practices, the responsibilities of the managers are to run the clock and make sure that the water bottles are full. The responsibilities during the game, however, can differ. The managers are responsible for bringing the basketballs out, filling water bottles, recording the game, and taking care of the book if needed. “There are always other responsibilities that you need to do other than just supporting the team during game days,” manager Maddy Wellmann said.

On the side of managing the basketball team, both girls have other responsibilities. They must learn how to maintain their grades in school while attending practice and riding along to games. The managers also balance jobs on the weekends and during times when they are not with the team. Their friends and family spend time with them as well, when they aren’t busy with everything listed above.
