Taking it to the Courthouse

Intro into law field trip 2024

Mrs. Mosher’s first-period Intro to Law class took a field trip to the Brown County Courthouse at 8 am on Oct. 15, 2024.

The intro to law class was learning about constitutional rights and the differences between punishments concerning law.

“This is the fifth year I have been teaching Intro to Law that has included a trip to the courthouse,” said Mrs. Mosher. “The goal is to provide students with a firsthand look at the legal process in real-time. It is important to see the consequences that poor choices can make on our lives, how the judicial system works, and illustrates how disputes are settled.”

When the class arrived at the courthouse, they met with NUHS resource officer Fleck. Fleck then led the class to the courtroom. In the courtroom, Judge Robert Docherty was waiting.

“Being able to listen to cases and see how legal troubles are actually taken care of was a very interesting experience,” said Kaylee Miklas.
