The New Ulm Eagles’ football team has been beaten up pretty well this year.

Preston Holberg, Sam Ibberson, Elier Garza, and Parker Neubauer have all been hurt, and even worse, they were all injured at about the same time. Elier tore his ACL, Prestonbroke his collarbone, Sam tore his MCL, and Parker broke his thumb.

Preston, Parker, and Sam were hoping to make it back for playoffs, but Elier will not, since he will need to recover for 6-9 months.

Preston Holberg is wearing his arm sling to help heal his arm but he has to wear it for 4-5 months to recover from a broken collarbone. “My collarbone is sore occasionally and feels more uncomfortable than painful,” Holberg said. (Kyle Albrecht)

Sam can play in the game this week. He said, “I am trying to see if coach Leiser will let me play on the defensive line.” Sam is a lineman and the kicker for the New Ulm Eagles. Preston is the quarterback but wasn’t cleared to play in the game.

The seniors said they have made memories that will last a lifetime, are glad to have played with the group of guys they did, and wouldn’t change a thing about their senior season (besides being injured).
