The New Ulm FCCLA chapter during FCCLA week decided to make cards to show teachers appreciation.
The FCCLA adviser, Mr. Janssen, asked some of the students who are a part of the organization to make cards for the teachers. They were given the supplies, which consisted of red paper and a gold star, and got to work.
Mr. Janssen said that they have been doing this for two years now. He said that each CTE gets a week to celebrate and that FCCLA decides to celebrate the teachers. “I like that it’s a handmade thing we do for the teachers. We could just buy things, but it’s more special this way,” Mr. Janssen said.
What the students did was pick a message to write on the cards and then write it on the card. After it was written they added the gold star to show that it’s from FCCLA. They brought the cards to Mr. Janssen, who then delivered the cards on Tuesday.
One of the students who helped with the cards is junior FCCLA member Jasmin Huerta. She made them because it’s an easy way to give back to the teaching community.
“I loved knowing that the teachers were gonna get these cards, and it would hopefully make their day,” Huerta said.
