Day in the Life of Maintenance
The other day I got to sit down with one of the few maintenance works here at New Ulm Public High. That maintenance worker was Scott Krueger. Scott allowed me to see into a typical day of his life while working here at the school. From 11:00 am to 7:30 pm Scott has a full day of work, and the work he does isn’t always the same. From vacuuming entry ways, taking out garbage, or cleaning bathrooms, he’s always got something to do. Now if you were like me, thats all I really thought Scott and other Maintenance works did around the school. But after speaking with him I learned he does a lot more.
Scott and his fellow crew members are much more than just janitors. Cleaning is actually their secondary job, while the schools maintenance comes first. Maintenance includes anything that might need fixing, such as a door thats not closing properly, or lights that need to be changed. On top of this Scott helps during fire drills and lock downs, typically causing him and his crew to be the last out of the school when such things happen. Even during the summer Scott is resealing floors throughout the school, such as the gym floor and cafeteria floor.
