On Thursday, Feb. 8, the New Ulm Eagles took to the ice against Windom Area in a conference matchup. Right from the get-go, it was obvious how this game would turn out. Within the second minute, freshman forward Brecken Neuman made an unassisted short-handed shot to put the Eagles up 1-0. From there, it was all Eagles. They continued to score four more goals within the period with forward Austin Uecker picking up points on each consecutive goal.
The second and third periods slowed down a little, however, they were still able to pick up 4 more goals to finish the game 9-0. In the end, Uecker’s points not only helped push the Eagles to victory but also allowed him to pass the previous points record of 182 set by Braxten Hoffman last year. “Everyone knew [Uecker] was going to break the record this season, it was just a matter of when,” said Eagle’s defender Landon Barstad.
The Eagle’s next hockey game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10.
