Eagles Track

Off to a good start. The New Ulm track team is doing well for both boys and girls. The meet in Waseca went well for the Eagles as the girls finished in 1st place. This season had a few changes made to it. Breanna Olson is the new head coach. It is going really well for her and the athletes with the positive attitudes that make Coach Olson love it even more. The assistant coaches have also been a big help. Olson says, “they have really stepped up and have been incredibly helpful this year.” We lead into asking how is this year different than last year? Starting with this being the first year that the junior high program has been separate from the varsity program. “This also means coaches are spread out so with practice we have to be a little creative.” With the new track throwers do have to travel for practice, they start out with the team warm up at the high school and then make their way to the middle school to practice their events. ” With some exciting news our team is about ten athletes bigger than last year so our numbers are encouraging and I hope they continue to grow!”

“This year we haveĀ 14 meets total if none of them get canceled. Then we are moving into the end of the year with our harder meets. These are true team, conference, and sections. Coach Olson has some expectations for this year. “Right now my expectation is that everyone gives it their all. The art of running is persevering through discomfort. Field event work takes patience.”

Good luck to our track team.
