NUHS conducts their first alumni performance of Hallelujah
NUHS tradition makes a come back

Walking into the Auditorium you see old and new faces of NUHS students, but why? Well, it can all be explained with two words, Mr. Olson.

Daniel Olson joined the NUHS staff last year and became the choir teacher. “This used to be a tradition back many many years ago. They always did a Hallelujah chorus at the winter holiday concerts,” Olson said.

The winter concert is a yearly occurrence that is held with all the choir classes, though it also includes the band. Music from a variety of artists and cultures brings the people in the community together.

The concert took place on Monday, Dec, 11 at 7 pm in the New Ulm High School Auditorium, with over 40 alumni appearing. Al Hawkins, a former director, came back as well to lead the choir in their performance of ‘Hallelujah’.

“It was very good,” said Sophomore Everett Brown, who sang in the holiday concert. “My favorite holiday song we sang was ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’.”

With the return of the tradition, the alumni choir will continue to sing every winter for many years to come, with the support of the community.
