NU Losing Two Head Coaches For Sports
Coach Dan Reinhart has coached for New Ulm girls basketball team for four years and has decided to step down. He is not only a coach but a sixth-grade math teacher as well. Mr. Reinhart decided to step down so he could spend time watching his daughter, Meleah Reinhart, play college ball at SMSU. He said, “I want to watch my daughter Meleah play college basketball at Southwest State University. I can’t get those four years back. I would be missing Meleah if I kept coaching high school basketball.” Mr. Reinhart has a record of 60-49 in his previous years coaching at NUHS and their recent record was 23-6. “It is going to be hard not coaching the kids, they have been amazing and have got a lot better. I consulted Meleah about this decision and she encouraged me not to quit, but to keep coaching since it was my favorite thing to do. I couldn’t agree more with what she said but coaching also means missing some of her big games and that’s the one thing I don’t want to miss. I have spent so much time coaching and I want to make up all this time by stepping down.” The Boys basketball coach and math teacher at New Ulm High School, Adam Tyhurst, also resigned for a job opportunity at Norwood Young America. His family has always wanted to live close to the cities and when they saw the opportunity they took it. The administration is currently looking for replacements for both Tyhurst and Reinhart. They will both be missed, but the show has got to go on.
