Great Start to a Season

The New Ulm Tennis Team had their first tennis meet yesterday April 6, 2017. The Faribault Falcons were beaten by the Eagles 6-1. At #1 singles, co-captain Joel Koelpin won vs Ren Ross in two sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2. At #2 singles, Andrew Goodall lost to an Marco Schmidt in a tough battle with the scores of 6-3, 2-6, 4-6. At #3 singles, Lucas Valeo breezed past Faribault’s Carl Ziegler winning 6-2, 6-1. Colton Collum faced off vs Alex Chou at #4 singles, winning 6-4, 6-0. #1 doubles team Tyler Guggisberg and co-captain Kelby Stocker snuck by with a win in a tie breaker vs Faribault’s Zak Krueger and Alex Bice 6-1, 6-7, 7-5. At #2 doubles Craig Schapekahm and Matt Sonndag defeated Hunter Stoltz and Sang Le with a final score of 6-2, 6-3. Finally at #3 doubles New Ulm’s Mike Messenger and Connor Drill came home with a win vs Faribault’s Ethan Krueger and Carter Remillard 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The Tennis Team is excited to utilize the new lights at the courts. The lights are up and working for some potential night tennis meets. The Coach for the Eagles, Peter Engeldinger would like to use the new lights as much as possible. We will keep you posted on how the Eagles tennis team does the rest of the season.
