New Ulm Middle School soars over Saints for gold
New Ulm High School hosts the state tournament, New Ulm Middle School takes first place.
New Ulm High School graciously hosted the basketball state tournament for New Ulm Middle School. After competing, and winning, against Maple River and Mankato West Black, NUMS Eagles went on to overpower St. James Saints 43-11, resulting in the Eagles taking home gold medals shining with pride.
“We put the full game plan together, and everything came together all at once. It worked out how we wanted it to,” Chris Schroeder, Head Coach for NUMS, said.
After all their hard work paid off, NUMS Eagles got together as a team to show off their gleaming medals. It was a bittersweet moment as their season came to an end.
“We worked hard and pushed past the bumps in the road. No matter what happened, we tried our hardest individually and as a team. It was a great way to end the season,” Daiven Hesse, NUMS player, said.
