Women In The World Of Rock And Roll

There has been a lot of news around the world when Donald J. Trump became president of the United States Of America. On January 21st, 2017, women across the USA Marched for their freedom. Women deal with different working conditions and assumptions than many men. Some of these assumptions are that women are not strong enough and smart enough to be part of the working force. I want to bring to light, the women who have been fighting to change the way women are seen and heard. The women I want to focus on are those in the music industry. We have many women in the music industry that promote strong roles and ideas for women in the world such as Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and many more. These singers prompt a unique style and different, more feminine ways. There are also women out in the world who view life in a different perspective. I call these women the rock and rollers. I am talking about women like Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Amy Lee, Fiona Apple, Pat Benatar, Maria Brink, Stevie Nicks, Lzzy Hale, Hayley Williams, and Taylor Momsen. They travel around the world sweating and doing something that they love. Some people might call these women tomboy, but they all have their own style all to their own.

Digging through the mud they led strong women roles. With myself being a lead singer in a band, I have been criticized a few times for being a female. I have gotten pushed into a corner at this school because I have been the only female guitarist here for a while and the boys think that I am not good enough, but in fact, I am. I can’t imagine how many times these women I listed above have been told they shouldn’t try in the music business.

These rockers also get the impression that they can’t sing or write good material because it will be “too girly.” I indeed think that anyone can sing whatever type of music they want and they can dress the way they want. The bands that these lead singers are in have been all over the world. They perform in headliner tours, summer tours, and many other tours. Rock sound and Warped tour are two very big tours that these bands have participated in. The world will keep on spinning and we need music that anyone can be part of.
