New American Flags in Classrooms

The Pledge of Allegiance on Monday received an upgrade due to the addition of new American flags in all classrooms. Each New Ulm High School classroom received a 12″ x 18″ flag to start off the new year.

These flags are symbols of our freedom as individuals in this country, and every color on the flag has a certain meaning. There are red and white stripes on the American flag, 13 in total. The red stripes stand for hardiness and valor while the white stripes stand for purity and innocence. The blue portion of the flag stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The white stars on the flag represent the 50 sovereign states in the Union. The American flag was “born” on June 14, 1777, in Philadelphia after the Continental Congress approved a committee to create a seal for our country.
