The Eagles wrestling team lined up after the national anthem during a home meet to show that mental health matters.

The Eagle’s season comes to an end

Post Season is on its way!

The Eagles wrestling team’s regular season has officially come to an end with a record of 17-7. The Eagles have wrestled really well this season considering having some key losses of teammates due to injuries. The Eagles especially showed this when recently facing the LPGE-Browerville Wolves who are ranked 9 in class A in Minnesota. The Eagles started off strong winning many matches down low in the weights. They battled through and came out on top with a 34-32 victory.

This just goes to show that through all of the struggles the team has faced this year, they have always come back bigger and better. The Eagle’s 145-pounder Winsten Neinhouse believes the crew has a shot at state this year if everyone wrestles hard and doesn’t give up – it could be anyone’s section title. This is believed by many and Senior caption Marquavion Hafner added, “They gotta keep on working hard and staying focused.” The Eagles have continuously shown how they have done so throughout the season.

The Post Season Is Here!

Although the Eagles wrestler’s regular season has come to an end the post-season is here. The Eagles have been working hard and are getting ready for their first match of the team section tournament Thursday, May 16 againstĀ  Redwood. Junior captain Ty Frederick said he is confident to come out with a win right away and many others think this too. The Eagles faced Redwood earlier this year and blew the Cardinals out of the water with a staggering score of 51-19. The team is coming into this meet more confident than ever and is ready to take the Cardinals on again.

Along with Teams Sections on the way so is Individual Sections. The Eagles have a good chance of sending a few wrestlers individually but it will be tough. New Ulm does have one ranked wrestler, the heavyweight Evan Thompson. Thompson is looking to make his first state appearance this year. Evan has been working hard in the practice room and getting ready for all of these important matches coming up. “The team is looking ready and so am I,” he said.
