Most Sports have certain people that hardly ever get to step on the field or court.  They come prepared to play but due to an overflowing roaster or coach’s choice, some kids don’t get to participate in the sport they love very often. Sometimes it might be hard to put these kids in because maybe the game is tied and at a crucial stage where a change in formation might cost them the game. Most of these kids say the coaches play favorites; therefore, if you aren’t played then it means the coaches “dislike” you.  Kids stop playing the sports they like because they hardly get any playing time and later, when that event’s season is about to begin, there are hardly enough kids to make a team so the team suffers from not having enough subs. The worst part is showing up for practices and giving it your all but it’s still not enough to earn you a playing spot. Parents pay to come watch their kids exhibit their skills, but instead they watch other kids play and not theirs. Some kids argue that they are just as good as the person starting, yet they hardly get any time and report these to the school or parents for advice. The worst part is when the person being benched is a senior and an underclassmen is being played over him or her, and to make matters worse, some sports require seniors to start on “senior” night to commemorate their achievements and also how thankful the younger players were to have such great role models yet, the senior does not start. There are a lot of questions that go into how a coach decides who plays and who does not, and most replies with the kids that show good leadership and aren’t greedy or selfish with the ball.
