Slither.io

December 14, 2016

Slither.io is a browser game that has became extremely popular amongst the student body. It was developed in March of 2016 by Steve Howse. Players control a snake-like avatar that eats multicolored pellets to gain points as it slithers within a circular game board. If your snake runs into another, you die and leave behind all of the pellets you have collected. Anyone that is playing can steal the pellets of a player who has died. The point of the game is to dominate the other players by killing them and eating the most pellets to become the largest. While playing, you can go anywhere within the game board but your avatar never stops moving. Players can also use a “boost mode’ which is activated by holding the space bar or holing down the right mouse pad. When using boost mode you will go faster, but your snake will also lose some of its pellets, thus making you shorter. There is a border along the circular board that keeps players inside, if you touch it your avatar dies. There are many different skin patterns and colors for you to customize your snake with. To unlock special skins and patterns you have to share the game to Twitter or Facebook.  A mobile version of the game has also become available to download.
