Sneak Peek at Prom 2018
April 28th is going to be a "Midnight Dream"
March 8, 2018
With spring right around the corner, a lot of NUHS students are starting to think about prom. When thinking about prom a lot of questions come to mind. Some of these questions being: “Who should my prom date be?” or “What prom dress should I buy?” But an even bigger question is: “What is this year’s prom going to be like?” The prom committee was able to answer this question and provide a sneak peek into this year’s prom.
This year’s prom will take place on Saturday, April 28th. Like last year, the Grand March will be held in the NUHS Gym at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. As always, sophomores who are asked, juniors, and seniors will be attending. Couples can sign up for prom on April 3rd to April 6th. The sign-ups will be held before school and during lunch. The cost is $50 per couple. Each student who signs up for prom will receive two free advanced tickets. During sign-ups students will be able to purchase additional advanced tickets. People with advanced tickets can get into the Grand March faster, which helps them get better seats. An advanced adult ticket costs $5, and an advanced student ticket costs $3. This year’s prom theme is called “Midnight Dream.”
Prom committee members have a lot to do before the big day. Ms. Bussler, the prom coordinator, gave insights on the prom committee’s preparations. “They have to decide on a theme, send out invitations, help kids sign up, decorate the gym, figure out how to line everyone up for the Grand March, decide on a DJ and music, and then clean up after,” she said. “There are so many behind the scenes things,” she added.
Prom committee member Maddy Portner said, “It is fun to be a part of the prom committee because you get to have a say in the theme and what prom will be like.” She said she would “definitely recommend it to next year’s juniors.”
When asked what would be different this year compared to last year, Ms. Bussler said: “Not a whole lot will be different, just the theme and the way advanced seating will work since last year we learned everybody kind of bunches up in the new school.” She added that,
“We will fix some things that we didn’t know how to do last year because we were in a new school.”
When asked about this year’s prom theme, Ms. Bussler said: “This year’s prom committee had one or two main ideas that were very similar, where past prom committees had many different themes and ideas.” “We were able to narrow it down by color,” she explained. Maddy Portner said, “We pretty much all agreed that we wanted a classy and elegant look for the theme, which will include crystals and tones of silver and lavender.”
It seems as though NUHS is going tohave yet another great prom this April. Students should keep an eye on the announcements for any more details that emerge about prom.
