New Ulm Squadron
November 1, 2017
The New Ulm High School Eagle squadron has been a tradition for several years. Starting at the old high school and making its way to the new one. In an interview with Troy Guentzel he tells us what the squadron is all about.
The squadron is a big thing for New Ulm High School the students take a lot of pride in it. Over the past few years the squadron has expanded. ” The squadron started as a group of kids at cheering at volleyball games and has transitioned to other sports like basketball and hockey,” said Guentzel.
Peoples opinions are changing. The first yearsof the squadron other towns had to make sure the refs kept us in line and kids would do some boarder line things.”I will admit I was a little unsure of it once I got here because of some rather loud and obnoxious individuals, but I think it has gotten better and better because of kids knowing my expectations and the state high school rules,” said Guentzel.
Are squadron is a stand out to most schools student sections. We have grades 9-12 in the squadron at majority of the events. We asked Mr. Guentzel how are squadron compares to other schools student section. He said, “I think other people should be jealous of are school spirit, Its also intimidating to other schools when they walk in and see our squadron.”
