You get your new tennis stringer for your racket, a new skate sharpener for hockey, hurdles for your track team, and the Dr. Dish to practice your shooting for basketball. Think about the latest wrestling mats, football gear and cameras, and simulator time for your golf team. Even our school’s weight room or your online team apps like HUDL come from somewhere. No one knows how we get all this equipment to support your favorite sports program. From uniforms to your team snacks and meals, the Booster Club has got you covered.
The New Ulm Booster Club is undergoing many unknown changes that may affect your sports in the upcoming years. As the years’ progress, booster President Shannon Frauenholtz undergoes her last fundraiser as our club’s president. Spring sports finish their water softener salt fundraiser, and new opportunities to get new equipment open up to continue to support New Ulm Athletics.
President Shannon Frauenholtz has been a part of the booster since day one. “As a New Um High School graduate and now an active volunteer for the school I have seen many dark and bright days. I am proud to say as my time as president I have seen many bright days and see brighter days to come in New Ulm athletics with the help and support that the booster club is receiving,” said Frauenholtz. The booster club provides our athletic program with countless pieces of equipment, support, and funds to grow their programs and be as successful as possible.
Getting equipment for your sport comes with many steps, said Frauenholtz. Your program first must participate in the season’s fundraisers, and the coach must make an official request to the club. The item is then discussed amongst the whole club and gets approved or denied based on fundraising support and how necessary the item is. Fundraising and supporting your team are essential to get the equipment your sport wants.
This spring salt fundraiser successfully gained funds for the booster club to lead to the success of your program. Athletes get fundraising information from their coaches and are reliable for selling water softener salt to gain funds for their sports. “Fundraisers are an easy way for athletes to support their own programs and it’s really not hard to do,” says multiple sport athlete Laura Bertrang. They make the fundraising process easy and make it something everyone needs to ensure at least one sale. “It is really not hard to do at all,” Bertrang said.
The Booster Club takes pride in the success of all students in New Ulm and works its hardest to support everyone in all programs. It takes many hands to make this successful program that has changed the athletic program this drastically. Although the club is going through significant changes these next coming years with the retiring president, the club will not stop supporting New Ulm athletics.
Now athletes will know and appreciate where their new uniforms, fancy weight room, and all the big and expensive equipment comes from that appears at your practices to help your team be the best it can be.
