Student takeover at NUHS?
New Spring play for the 2023 Theater season
March 24, 2023
Senior Josie Ringhofer is taking charge as the NEW Director for the upcoming spring play, The Man Who Came To Dinner. Josie Ringhofer is a senior here at NUHS. She has done countless productions in and out of school. This year she takes on one of her biggest challenges, being in charge of it all.
“I feel that it is such a big honor to be chosen for this role and to be able to put on a whole production. It also gets me more prepared for the future with the responsibility of it all,” Ringhofer said in response to being named the director.
In late January of this year, interviews were held for the role of student director. This idea of a student director was originally brought up by Josie Ringhofer but was soon sought after by other students. Choir director Mr. Olson was put in the lead as the supervisor for the spring play, but he needed to pick a student to be the director. With all of the interviews being held, he came to a decision. Josie was selected for the role of student director.
This production consists of three different acts, which is irregular for normal plays. This is an issue that needs to be fixed since there cannot be two intermissions during a show. This show is filled with a variety of props and a large set that will take up the entire stage. This can be a very challenging issue. “I feel it will be a bit challenging because we are so limited on time, but we will be able to prevail;” said Josie when asked about the play. Many Roles have been assigned to many students in the high school for certain aspects of the play. Brenda Van Meveren, Jayda Goold, Halle Johnson, and Britton Beran are just a few students in charge of this play. This will be truly a student lead production for the first time in NUHS history.
